Doula Services FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a doula?
A doula is a trained professional who provides physical, emotional, and informational support during pregnancy, labor, birth, and the postpartum period. Doulas do not perform medical tasks but work alongside your healthcare team to ensure you feel empowered, comforted, and informed throughout your experience.
What kinds of births do you support?
I support home births, hospital births, and births at birthing centers. Whether you’re planning a natural birth, want an epidural, or are preparing for a cesarean, my role is to support your choices and help you feel confident and calm.
Do you support people with Medicaid?
Yes! I am an approved Medicaid provider and accept Colorado Medicaid. I believe everyone deserves access to compassionate, continuous birth support — regardless of financial status.
What areas do you serve?
I serve clients within 25 miles of Loveland, Colorado, including Fort Collins, Greeley, Longmont, and surrounding areas. If you’re outside this radius, I may still be able to accommodate you for an additional travel fee, assessed case by case.
What’s included in your doula services?
I offer both a la carte services and comprehensive packages that may include:
- Prenatal appointments
- Birth planning support
- Continuous labor and delivery support
- Postpartum care visits
-
Support after abortion, miscarriage, or stillbirth
Each offering is tailored to your specific needs. View our Service Menu for more details.
Will you replace my partner or midwife?
Absolutely not. I work in collaboration with your birth team and your loved ones. My goal is to enhance your support system — not replace it. I often help partners feel more confident and involved during the birth process.
When should I hire a doula?
It’s never too early — but ideally, you’ll want to connect by your second trimester to make the most of your prenatal support. However, I do take last-minute clients if space allows.
Do you attend births during the night or on weekends?
Yes! I offer 24/7 on-call availability starting at 38 weeks (earlier if needed). Births don’t follow a schedule — and neither do I.
Can I meet you before committing?
Yes! I offer a free consultation to see if we’re the right fit. Building trust and comfort is essential — you should feel fully supported by the person attending your birth.
What if I have a loss or unexpected change in plans?
In the event of miscarriage, stillbirth, or a change in your care plan, I provide compassionate support and flexible options. Refunds for unused services are available in these situations — see our Refund Policy for details.
